Education Commissioner Backs Down, Reinstates Forums for Parents to Beef About Testing and Common Core

Hits: 16

WPCNR SCHOOL DAYS. From New York State Assemblyman David Buchwald. October 16, 2013:

One day after Commissioner Education John King insisted he would not reinstitute forums for parents around the state to comment on the Common Core Curriculum and controversial achievement tests, saying they were being taken over by groups opposed to the Core, after being treated “rudely” at his first forum, the Commissioner has changed his mind

This reversal of policy has come about according to White Plains-Harrision Lewisboro Assemblyman David Buchwald. Today Mr. Buchwald notified the CitizeNetReporter with this statement:

“I am pleased that Commissioner King has reestablished his forums on the Common Core curriculum. Parents deserve to know how their children are being educated and how the new standards implemented will affect their children. Their ideas and concerns should be suitably heard.”
