As dusk shrouded White Plains ushering in another cold night, at the 5 o’clock hour, Con Edison reported some progress on Sunday in trimming the Westchester County outages to 84,680 customers as of 5:50 P.M.
In White Plains the customers suffering a 7th straight day has been cut to 6,932 from 7,318 as of 10 A.M. this morning. There were some houses with power along North Street south of Ridgeway, but homes on the east side of lower North Street were Dark. Mayor has confirmed as of midday Con Ed is still providing only one cut-and-clear crew.
In his daily Update issued via telephone at 12 noon Sunday, Mayor Thomas Roach told residents gasoline continued to be delivered throughout the city and that the supply chain is in place. (Editor’s Note: 90 cars were lined up on the Hutchinson River Parkway Northbound at 5:15 to get gas the Hutch Mobil, and another 70 were lined up southbound…though this could be panic buyying.). Many residuents, the Mayor said received restoration of power yesterday, and many more should receive it today, he said.
He said “restoration began Friday, more than a dozen crews with approximately 35 bucket trucks have been assigned to White Plains outages today, similar number as yesterday. 110 streets have been cleared of gblockages (as of noon Sunday), 27 remain(ed) all involving wires requiring the presence of Con Ed., They still have provided only one cut and clear crew. (This was as of noon, Sunday.)
