LWW Not Amused by Primary Headline

Hits: 27

WPCNR LETTER TICKER. APRIL 20, 2016:

Dear Mr. Bailey,
I read with dismay the headline in today’s posting on the White Plains CitizeNetReporter Web site reporting on the New York state presidential primaries. Specifically, “IT’S NEW YORK PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY DAY — VOTE EARLY AND OFTEN”.
There is an epidemic of states and government officials passing laws and making administrative decisions for what is claimed to be the sake of protecting against voter fraud.  The WPCNR headline, an ill-conceived attempt at humor, only serves to reinforce the notion that voter fraud is prevalent, something that has repeatedly been shown to be patently untrue.
The League of Women Voters is actively involved in defending against voter disenfranchisement throughout the United States.   This headline reinforces an idea that the League has long fought to dispel.  A more considered choice of words would have been expected from a journalistic Web site devoted to reporting on local issues and events.
