Mayor Tom Roach Stressed the value of the White Plains Public Library as a lifelong resource and how the construction of The Edge would promote reading with today’s technology at the Book-Moving Ceremony Recognizing the Beginning of Construction of The Edge at the Library Monday morning.
Mayor Tom Roach moves the first rack of books out of area where The Edge, a state-of-the-art teen gathering, learning, research and multi-media center with computers, video and digital labs will take shape over the next 4 months.
Key community leaders gathered behind books to be moved out in the Book Moving Ceremony (as opposed to a ground-breaking) to cap off the long-awaited renovation of the first floor of the White Plains Public Library which opened in the 1970s. The construction is to be completed by the end of 2015. The Edge, the first phase, a teen gathering and learning center for youth is scheduled to open in November of this year.
