JULY 8–COVID POISED TO POST STRONG SURGE IN COVID IN JULY

Hits: 192

WPCNR WESTCHESTER COVID LOG.From the New York State Covid Tracker, Observation and analysis by John F. Bailey July 8, 2024:

Westchester County reported 2,540 new cases of Covid through  June 30, 363 a day. The case rate has been rising all month of June

For the 7 days ended July 2, Westchester  averaged 10.1 new cases a day per 100,000 people. With a county population of 1,400 000 new cases per day times 10.04, that is 102 cases a day, or 710 a WEEK.

If that 10 persons a day per 100,000 figure does not go down or worse rises, this means in July we will see 2,839 new cases at the present rate of 1 person infecting 2!

If the number of Westchester new cases rises to 15 a day that will mean 4,216 new covid cases a week.

Should it balloon to 20 new cases a day that creates 5,622 new cases a week, over 20,000. And the covid lab continues to create new variants. If you are not fully vaccinated through the June Booster, you are a sitting duck.

Here’s why

Last June 2023, Westchester reported 826 cases.

In July 2023 after the July 4 break,  that created 1,064 cases in July.

Look at the situation we face:

The 826 cases  spread to 1098 others with 1 person infected in June spreading to 3 others others. Granted the three persons each covid June case spread it to in July included persons  infected by June covid cases when covid had a 1 week to 10 days before showing symptoms. The July covid cases who got covid from those infected in June, then  spread to those they associated with in July.

Looking at my spread log from last July  weekly  totals the spread rate per week at its highest was 1 July covid case spreading it to up to  4 persons, the highest was 1 spreading it to 6.

The weekly new infections were in July 2023: 192,133,212,260, 306,134 adding to  1,064.

Add the August Weekly infections, 490, 788, 858,749, 964 for a total of 3,849 you come up with 4,913 through July and August traceable to the June spread of 826 cases.

The July August Spread of 2023 of 4,913 cases produced 4,629 cases.

Taking into account the 24 hours to spread LN-1 variant just identified by the Center for Disease Control, the Westchester County 10 new cases per day rate troubles me.

I fear that the lack of persons fully vaccinated or who have not gotten their booster now available creates the potential for an exponential spread of the LN-1 varient because more persons are going to infect others fastee (within 2 days!)

Covid is spreading faster.

Last week through July was the 20th of 23   consecutive weeks  since May that covid cases have risen steady and the 7th consecutive week we have seen a rise.  You simply must be careful folks with this new variant LN-1 out there.

I expect it will decline this last week the 30th of June through July 6  because of the July 4th holiday.

But the bulge in Monday through Friday cases shows the effects of the LN-1 varient, over 100 cases a day the last two weeks Monday through Friday:

From June Monday the 16 to Friday the 21st: 134,124,103,116.102

From June Monday the 24 to Friday June 21: 155,131,124,103,116,102!

That’s when people go back to work and into the workplace.

The hospitalizations in White Plains Hospital shows rate of those admitted and being found with covid continues steady  around 50%.

In the last two weeks,  June 20 to July 5, 79 persons were admitted to White Plains Hospital and 37 or 47% tested positive for covid after admission.

From May 31 to July 5—the last 5 weeks, 147 persons were admitted to WHP and 92 once admitted were found with covid—62%.

The hot weather, proximity in air conditioned cooling centers, shoulder to shoulder on the beach will contribute to covid spread.

I eagerly await the October vaccine booster. We are going to need it.

VORPERIAN TOASTS THE YEAR THE RED SOX BROKE THE CURSE OF THE BAMBINO: 2004 REMEMBERED

SPORTS HISTORIAN AND WHITE PLAINS TELEVISION PERSONALITY, JOHN VORPERIAN TOSSES UP RED SOX MAGICAL SEASON

WPCNR BASEBALL’S YESTERDAYS  From John Vorperian. July 6, 2024:

Baseball superstition holds teams that lead their division in July go to the

postseason. Boston’s current place in the standings looks as though they will have to wait

until next year. 20 years ago, the Red Sox reversed the “curse of the Bambino” and won the

World Series.

John Vorperian, a lifelong Westchester resident and sports historian, grew up a

Boston Red Sox booster. His obsession with the Sox began in 1968. His family

summered in the Hub and regularly took the then 10-year-old to games at Fenway

Park.

Those trips resulted in a passion for Beantown’s nine and baseball history.

Vorperian along with 67 Society of American Baseball Research (SABR)

members, which included some Yankee and Cardinal fans have published a book about

the famed 2004 Championship club.

Issued on the 20th anniversary, SOX BID CURSE FAREWELL celebrates that renowned squad by detailing the

biographies of all the players and coaches alongside essays about that unprecedented season wherein the New

England franchise won the World Series for the first time in 86 years.

Boston became the first team to ever win a seven-game series after being down

three games to none to their archrivals, the New York Yankees. The Sox then swept the St.

Louis Cardinals four games to none in the Fall Classic.

Vorperian has written for RED SOX MAGAZINE and contributed to eleven other

baseball team books for SABR.  He also hosts a sports themed cable TV program BEYOND

THE GAME on White Plains Community Media.

HERE LIES THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. BORN JULY 4, 1776. DIED JULY 4, 2024. AGED 248 YEARS BY ITS OWN HAND. NO LONGER ARE ALL MEN EQUAL UNDER THE LAW

Hits: 319

WPCNR NEWS & COMMENT By John F. Bailey. July 4, 2024 Reprinted from the White Plains CitizeNetReporter, June 30, 2018:

I did not go to the fireworks in White Plains New York USA.

There should be no fireworks anywhere in America today July 4.

Because there is little to celebrate about America anymore.

What Americans used to  celebrate on July 4 in the past no longer exists.

It is a memory, a once shining hope  the world always looked to for inspiration.

That America is forever gone.

I miss it so.

We may never see respect and admiration from the world we once had again.

Our reputation for standing up for the good, the decent, and the just has been smeared and shattered  by persons  who should have known better.

America to the rescue no more. I was always proud of that.

Unselfish acceptance of persons in trouble coming to our shores to start a new life: the Irish, the Germans, the Italians, Latinos, Africans, Asians, Muslims– has been callously, proudly, viciously attacked and not adequately protected by our “leaders.”

Both houses of congress and a mean-spirited selfish man have aroused hatred of the different, the oppressed, the  persecuted, and the poor, in citizens who should know better.

There but for the grace of God go you and I, Mr. and Mrs. And Ms. America who collectively bear full responsibility for the death of the America Dream, by not paying attention, and buying into a line and a hate and politiicians’ indifference.

How quickly America’s heart hardened to stone and stopped beating.

Cruelty rationalized. Hate defended. Discrimination championed. Truth attacked. Help denied the needy.

That was never the American Way.

Eight years is all it has taken.

This swift decline continues into madness.

A year of a media circus campaign followed by the nomination of “An American Strongman,” a  man of the people champion who spoke of “Making America Great Again.”  On the way perhaps never to return,  thanks to the decision Monday of the Supreme Court  which  apparently cannot not read the Constitution of the United States to grant a President immunity for official acts.

Don’t they know what started the American Revolution? What sophists! These are the kind of judges that condemned Socrates to death because he was inconvenient.

The media have been playing both ends against the mid dle, being complicit publicizing dutifully the ranting of those who would change American government.  Because they were “good copy.” “Everything is copy,” it has once been said by Nora Ephron’s mother. But no media judgment was used. Nothing said was censored or ignored. The media were putty in this man’s hands. Criticism was fake news. Then the claims of the stolen election.

The man who condoned  and  popularized hatred of his opponents, who  courted the cooperation of an enemy of America to influence his election, and who  reveled in his denigration of women and the weak was elevated to an exulted level. The man who loved firing people.

His opponent in the election underestimated him. She failed to grasp the visceral violence he aroused in voters—voters who  only saw the promise of  their personal getting even with their perceived tormentors and disregarding the premise of this very mastermind.

Half of the voters in the country ate his message up.

That horrendous campaign has been followed up with a march on American values that, like those before him: Mongols, Huns, Cossacks,  Barbarians  and Nazis rampaged across Europe with sword and violence like the Roman Empire.

The weapons today are  microphones, videos, propaganda, slogans, websites,  and big lies that play as convenient truths, executive orders laying waste to reason and morality in this nation, forsaking our friends of the past and uplifting the evil leaders of the world for admiration. Initiatives ineptly executed, inappropriate, and bungled because of the inability to manage. Rewriting history.

I and you have seen 8 years  dismantling rights taken for granted by Americans. Courts ruled by political tools not men and women of integrity, compassion, who wear their robes to right wrongs.

Justices making rights-robbing decisions virtually weekly. Leaders in cabinet positions opposed to the missions of their agencies turning a blindeye to companies that kill, gouge, fire and oppress their workers. Corrupt, price gouging businesses, corner-cutting businesses making decisions that kill hundredss in airplane crashes, and creation of killer pain drugs.

How great are we now?

The promise of America has been perhaps forever broken.

How great are we now?

It is embarrassing  to be an American  for what this neo-Nazi movement  is doing.

As  fireworks explosions are prepared to celebrate a government that now rips children away from families at the border . Political decisions to block entrance to the U.S.  Adequate records not even being kept. Are photographs being taken of the children already in custody with their parents? Who knows? Reporters have not even documented the process of what happens in the separations. Mayor De Blasio was not even informed of immigrant children being flown into New York City for placement. the Supreme Court decides not to let homeless sleep in the streets. Where do they go next? Our government allows states to bus immigrants into other cities and does not send them back, I repeat does not send them back!

Now America, look at you: America has “Children Concentration Camps.”

Look at you America, you now are going to test children’s DNA with the parents who brought them to make sure they are not “Fake children.”

America did not used to be afraid of children. afraid of people fleeing their countries.

But hate was always under the surface that the premise of America had to always fight. Hate is always poised to raise its horror,  its ugliness, its indifference to the suffering of others, because it is easy to ignore the unpleasant and blame their plights as being their own fault.

Slavery, the segregation of the South and the North (remember redlining?). Other than the My Lai massacre during the Vietnam War, and the Cavalry revenge massacres at Wounded Knee and the Washita River, and Andrew Jackson’s Trail of Tears (the Cherokee Indian death march), and the burning of Atlanta, and Bloody Kansas, we have forgotten our humanity  conveniently  in favor of the easy emotion: hate. Worse, indifference.

Look at you, America: Religious freedom for all. No more.  Muslims are being ostracized by travel bans.

In fact the clergy, the Christians in America, I call you out: What would Jesus say about your failure to take in strangers or your condoning  (as a matter of faith for crying out loud!) policies of retribution to come?

Look at you, America, how  quickly what you have built in 248 years has been ripped away.

Look at those fireworks, and this year they represent an America flaming apart with hate.

Look at what it takes to be an American of the past now who remembers the pride I took in America.

You are a drifter still believing in freedom and truth, justice and the American Way in your heart, mourning what America once was and is no more. Worry. Anxiety at the insanity of those so close to taking over the country and having their way with us.

I remember not the country whose leaders in congress  betrayed its country’s promise and continues to wring hands and do not do the right thing.

America has died in these last 8 years. A breathtaking quick decline. Without a shot being fired.

Its leadership has betrayed its war dead and veterans who fought for truth, justice and the American Way  and the Pursuit of Happiness, where all men are created equal. No man is above the law. No more.

What is the Supreme Court thinking? Do they think?

America, Look at you and remember what you once meant to millions.

The Stars and Stripes are no longer forever.

Old Glory is tattered, ripped to shreds by ourselves.

The white and red stripes  wrinkled, ripped, furling asunder in the cruel fickle winds of hate, in total disunity, no longer a whole flag. A hydra of hate, no longer proud. Just regret in its flutters.

The white stars falling out of the blue background lose their unity. Scatter to the four winds.

Lay a wreath on the flag.

Cancel the fireworks celebrations everywhere.

There is nothing to celebrate July 4.

But for those of us  Americans, who remember what America used to stand for, our work is just beginning.

We have a lot of work to do to make America the Greatest again, all over again.

Give us time, old friends.

You and I have to knit that Grand Old Flag back together again.

Stitch by stitch.

Vote by Vote.

Together.

ANDREW CUOMO TO THE RESCUE

Hits: 435

OUR NATION TURNS ITS HOPE TO THEE.

WPCNR NEWS & COMMENT. By John F. Bailey.  June 29, 2024:

He saved America once.

We need him to save us once again.

Will we turn to him?

When we need him more than America as ever needed a hero against the odds?

The toughest most intelligent politician of our age

He is Andrew Cuomo.

Americans believed him.

I believed him.

He did not deliver rhetoric in the covid epidemic.

He was tough.

He demanded things that no one liked.

He was on the air everyday telling us the facts of what was happening.

He got people to believe in staying home, something his enemies and thousands of leaders did not want.

He stuck by his reason, his instincts.

His solutions worked.

They got results.

It is so rare politicians get results.

Andrew Cuomo got them he stopped covid spread in 6 months

He stepped in where politicians feared to tread, afraid of public criticism.

He saved millions of New Yorkers and across the nation with his actions.

He was second-guessed and gaslighted by irresponsible caregivers who spread the disease by ignoring his policies.

He was hated by New York Democrats for his power and intelligence when they showed none.

As with  any  enemy of the people (Henrik Ibsen’s  play  about a scientist who exposed water problems and was dubbed Enemy of the People” who was vilified by authorities).

By  putting his instincts and willingness to lead when someone had to lead (and it was not the President of the country at that time who lead, it was not the CDC, it was not the politicians who never visited the morgues.

It was  Andrew Cuomo who gave  his political career away , did unpopular things, the lockdowns.

He went on television across the country with his team gave scientists time to get us a vaccine to stop covid spread by stopping the spread at the time there was no vaccine.

The nation listened to him.

Watched him.

In tight, powerful daily half hour to 45 minute bulletins fact-heavy packed with easy-to-understand graphics, experts talked reality on the ground, explained to a panicked state and America at large how to hold down the deadly covid virus at bay and how not to get it.

He did that.

He did the single biggest national public service rescue with the force of his personality and Melissa De Rosa, his heroine Secretary to the Governor and his Health Commissioner since FDR.

Americans never missed a briefing of his.

I didn’t.

He is easily the best leader I have ever seen in this state SINCE GOVERNOR PATAKI

We need Mr. Cuomo again.

Now.

Will he come back to fight the new covid virus of darkness, “The Trumpid Variant”?

The Trumpid Variant of covid is infecting Americans’ minds with hate, oppression of the innocent, “Herods to be,”  symptoms being  suppression of  freedom infecting our citizens with Trumpid Variant  behaviors infecting Americans with nationalistic world-threatening folly and false sense of  reality, and inability to see the policies of the Trumpid Variant are threatening the greatest country in the world survival.

As with any  “enemy of the people”, Andrew Cuomo paid for his heroic covid-stopping policies politically. He was framed by his own party with charges of sexual harassment by his own attorney general, they took away his emergency powers.  They trumped up sexual harassment charges. He was forced to resign. He was kangarooed out of Albany.

Since then, the same legislature continues their lack of leadership in this state to deal with the state’s problems, fight the new Governor Kathy Hochul’s solutions.

To this date no court case has found Mr. Cuomo guilty of anything. His accusers have not followed through.

But he is available now when the country needs him more than they have ever needed someone  smart, tough, and rational before.

Now he, in my opinion is the only hope if the Democratic Party hopes to stop the virus of darkness: The Trumpid Variant,” infecting Americans believing in things I never thought I’d see my countrymen and women support.

The tragic performance of President Joe Biden in the mockery of the debate Thursday night is reminiscent of the aged German Chancellor in 1933, when the fickle Reichstag with a collaboration of conspiring members angled to have Hitler appointed with Hitler agreeing to appoint them chancellor and aids. Hitler got rid of them after he was made chancellor.

Von Hindenberg washed his hands and resigned. Hitler was appointed. The conspirators not appointed and Hitler took over. The book Takeover chronicles this explicitly.

There is no one the democratic party can replace Biden with, should Mr. Biden resign, who has the national following Andrew Cuomo did and does.

He is not a New Yorker, he’s the last American Hero. He guided us through covid across the nation straight through to morning in America in 2022,

Andrew Cuomo, our nation turns its worried eyes to you.
