NYWFP CELEBRATES GOVERNOR KATHY HOCHUL’S RE-ELECTION & HISTORIC ELECTION OF ADRIENNE ADAMS AS LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR

NEW YORK, NY — Tonight, the New York Working Families Party (NYWFP) celebrated the re-election of Governor Kathy Hochul, and the historic election of Adrienne Adams as New York’s first Black woman elected Lieutenant Governor.

Governor Hochul’s victory is a powerful rejection of MAGA extremism and a testament to the strength of the coalition of working people, labor unions, community organizations, and progressive leaders who came together to protect New York’s future.

“Tonight, New Yorkers sent a clear message: we reject MAGA extremism, and we want a government that fights for working people, not billionaires and corporate interests,” said Jasmine Gripper, State Director of the New York Working Families Party. “Our movement played a critical role in re-electing Governor Hochul and protecting New York from the dangerous Republican agenda. But this victory is about more than defeating the right. It’s about building the political power to deliver universal childcare, affordable housing, quality healthcare, and an economy that works for all of us. The Working Families Party is proving that another way to fight, win, and govern is possible.”

“Tonight we also celebrate the first all-woman ticket and the first Black woman to serve as Lieutenant Governor in New York with the historic election of Adrienne Adams,” continued Grippper.

Across New York, NYWFP invested in an expansive electoral program to mobilize hundreds of thousands of voters, strengthen its independent ballot line, flip competitive congressional and state legislative seats, and elect candidates committed to delivering for working families.

The Party’s statewide effort brought together elected leaders, labor unions, community organizations, and grassroots activists to turn out voters for Governor Hochul on the Working Families Party line.

Governor Hochul’s re-election is part of a broader national Working Families Party effort to defeat MAGA Republicans, challenge corporate power, and elect a new generation of leaders committed to an economic agenda that puts working people first. With a strengthened independent ballot line and a growing delegation of progressive champions in Albany and Washington, NYWFP is positioned to be a leading force in winning transformative change for working families across New York.
