Stay vigilant

Impostor scams are where someone pretends to be a trusted authority like a
government entity, your bank, or American Express. They create a sense of
urgency and try to force you to make snap judgments in situations like these:

A government or law enforcement official reaches out to demand immediate payment for a debt or to collect personal information.

A person claims to have tickets for a high-demand event like a sold-out game for a discount. If it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably a scam.

Someone makes a request for an unusual form of payment such as gift cards or crypto. Remember, American Express will never ask you to pay with gift cards or crypto to resolve an issue with your account.
In all of these instances, the scammer is trying to access your credit card
account details or steal your funds.
