Current Superintendent of Schools Dr.Paul Fried, (right) shown with John Bailey (left)on a PEOPLE TO HEARD program is at the end of his first year of a three year contract with the school district.

Mr. Connors left the district to retire permanently he said last June, after serving two years as Acting Superintendent before the hiring of Dr. Fried, who began last July. Previously Mr. Connors had served as White Plains Superintendent of Schools for 9 years, and a previous period as Acting Superintendent while the Board searched for a successor to Dr. Christopher Clouet who left White Plains for the Tarrytown School District. Dr. Fried was hired by the district last spring and began his contract last July.

The item the Board of Education will vote on hiring back Mr. Connors for an unspecified period of time as Acting Superintendent,  reads:

“1.Recommended approval of a consulting agreement with Timothy Connors to serve as Acting Superintendent effective 6/13/16 as per attachment.”

There is no explanation in the official agenda of what Mr. Connors’ role will be and the role of Dr. Fried, or in light of Ms Schoenfeld’s statement, how long Dr. Fried will be out with his illness.
