MY OBSERVATIONS OF THE IMPACT OF THE NEWS I REPORTED ON THIS WHITE PLAINS WEEK.

 

THE BREAKOUT NEWS THAT MEASLES CASES ARE GROWING IN NEW YORK REVEAL SO MUCH.

GOVERNOR HOCHUL DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND MOBILIZED AN EFFORT TO VACCINATE THOSE INFLUENCED BY THE STATE OF LAISSEZ FAIR POLICY  BY WITHHOLDING MEASLES CASES NUMBERS, AS AN ANTI-VACCINE CRUSADE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IN WASHINGTON AND ABBETTED   BY THE CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL IS NO SURPRISE.

YOU CAN’T CONTROL A DISEASE IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO CONTROL IT. WHAT A SHOCK!

IF PAST EFFECTIVE PREVENTIVE VACCINATIONS STOPPED POLIO, COVID, AND MEASLES RUBELLA AND MUMPS ARE DEBUNKED–

THE RATE OF  COVID SPREAD AND MEASLES GOES UNREPORTED SINCE LATE JULY BY THIS STATE AND THE CDC THIS IS NO SURPRISE.

IGNORING THE FACTS OF SPREAD TO THE POINT WHERE WE DO NOT KNOW HOW MANY CASES OF NEW COVID APPEARED AS A RESULT OF THE JULY COVID CASE REPORTS FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS BEING WITHELD  IS CONCERNING.

THE SUPRESSION IS UNPROFESSIONAL. DANGEROUS.  IT WEAKENS WESTCHESTER AND THE NATION.

BELIEVING IN A POLICY BECAUSE IT ADVANCES A MOVEMENT’S OWN PERSONAL BELIEF IS DANGEROUS.

A POLICY THAT HURTS PERSONS WHOSE BELIEFS YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH IS A DOUBLE-EDGED SWORD.

THE MEASLES PLAGUE SPREADING INTO NEW YORK STATE HAS PROMPTED A VACCINATION WAVE EFFORT BY THE GOVERNOR BECAUSE MEASLES SPREADS FASTER AND THREATENS CHILDREN STATEWIDE.

THE SPREAD OF THE DISEASE BY THOSE WHO CHOSE TO BELIEVE VACCINATIONS ENDANGER THEIR CHILDREN HAS PUT CHILDREN OF THEIR OWN AND EVERYWHERE IN DANGER.

YOU AS A PARENT DON’T WANT THAT HEARTBREAK.

UNSUBSTANTIATED POLITICAL BELIEFS NOT BASED ON “JUST THE FACTS, MA’AM,” ARE SHOWING JUST HOW DANGEROUS INCOMPETANCE AND VENDETTAS IN GOVERNMENT POLICY CAN BE.

NOW WE SEE THAT PENNSYVANIA ACCORDING TO GOVERNOR HOCHUL–

“MEASLES EMERGENCY IS LINKED TO UPSTATE CASES IN NEW YORK.”

CAN ANTI-VACCINE PERSONS WHOSE CHILDREN HAVE NOT BEEN VACCINATED BE CONVINCED TO MAKE THEIR CHILDREN SAFE?

I DOUBT IT.

FROM MY PERSPECTIVE, THE GOVERNOR’S DAILY NEW CASES OF MEASLES AND COVID AND FLU AND ANY OTHER OUTBREAKS NEED TO BE RESTORED AND PAID ATTENTION TO AND REPORTED BY THE MEDIA.

SOME OF THE BIG MEDIA IN THE COUNTRY HAVE BURIED DISEASE SPREAD COVERAGE. THAT’S IGNORING THE NEWS PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW.

LET’S TALK ABOUT THE FOOD SHORTAGE:

THE 400,000 ADULTS CHILDREN DEPRIVED OF SNAP, FORCED TO HAVE A JOB TO QUALIFY FOR WHAT SNAP FOOD  REMAINS ACCORDING TO CHRISTINE BOROK IS NOT A NEW STORY.

THE STATE HAS GOT TO TAKE CHARGE AND FUND UP THE MISSING SNAP MONEY GAP.

COUNTIES, TOWNS AND CITIES LIKE WHITE PLAINS HAVE TO REBUDGET THE MONEY TO FEED THE PEOPLE BEING STARVED BY THE DO NOTHING CONGRESS IN WASHINGTON. THE APPARENT RELUCTANCE OF THE ALBANY LEGISLATURE TO TAKE CHARGE AND HELP FOR GOD’S SAKE IS SHOCKING.

THE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS  SENT TO BUSINESSES AND INDUSTRIES UPSTATE AND EVEN IN THIS COUNTY THAT THE RECIPIENTS SPEND ON GOD KNOWS WHAT ARE PERHAPS, JUST PERHAPS NEEDED MORE BADLY ELSEWHERE TO FEED THOSE WHO CANNOT AFFORD FOOD.

PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTY THIS CITY AND THEIR CHILDREN CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY THEIR OWN FOOD. DOES ANYBODY CARE? THE BREADLINES HAVE BEEN FORMING FOR YEARS. IT IS LIKE SOVIET RUSSIA UNDER STALIN. I KNOW. I HAVE SHOWN PICTURES OF THE WESTCHESTER BREAD LINES ON WPCNR.COM.

ON THE PENDING EFFORTS OF ICE.

WE NEED TO TAKE NOTE THAT BUSINESSES SHOULD NOT TARGET EMPLOYEES FOR LAYOFFS BECAUSE OF WHOM THEY MIGHT BE AS THE COMMISSIONER OF HUMAN RIGHTS SAID ON WHITE PLAINS WEEEK THIS WEEK.

ON THE OTHER HAND

DEMONSTRATIONS  AGAINST ICE CANNOT BE HANDLED BY THE COMMISSION. DEMONSTRATERS SUPPORTING THE PLIGHT OF PERSONS HERE TARGETED BY ICE, SHOULD BE AWARE:

PERSONS OF INTEREST TO ICE FOR DEPORTATION SHOULD NOT PARTICIPATE IN DEMONSTRATIONS AGAINST ICE.  NEVER FORGET YOU ARE THE TARGET.

 IN THE “GEE WHIZ, WHO KNEW DEPARTMENT” IT APPEARS RAISING INTEREST RATES HAVE NOT LOWERED INFLATION AND IT IS STILL RAGING.

THE FEDERAL RESERVE NOTES IN MEETINGS THURSDAY MORNING THEY STILL NEED TO DO MORE.

I HAVE A SUGGESTION:  PERHAPS CORPORATE MOGULS OF MONEY SHOULD STOP RAISING PRICES.

BUT AS I HAVE COMMENTED MANY TIMES, INFLATION NEVER STOPS IT COMPOUNDS LIKE INTEREST. THAT’S WHY JOBS ARE ELIMINATED BY BUSINESSES AND THEY RAISE PRICES  TO MAINTAIN DIVIDENDS, PROFITS AND STOCK PRICES.

IT IS BUSINESS THAT CREATES INFLATION. NOT THE WORKING MAN AND WOMAN FOR NOT SPENDING. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY YOU CANNOT SPEND—EVEN TO EAT.

STAMFORD, CT/October 7, 2026 – Derecktor Shipyards and SoundWaters welcomed state and local officials to Derecktor’s Mamaroneck shipyard yesterday for an inside look at the R/V Brewer, a new educational research vessel under construction for SoundWaters.

Representatives from both organizations provided information about the vessel’s construction, why Derecktor was a good fit for the project and how this new vessel will play a key role in expanding SoundWaters’ maritime science and environmental education programs on Long Island Sound and positively impact Mamaroneck-area students.

Commissioned by SoundWaters, the R/V Brewer is a 50-foot by 23-foot aluminum catamaran designed by Chartwell Marine, a pioneer of next generation vessel design. The vessel is currently being constructed by Derecktor Shipyards. Scheduled to launch in Spring 2027, the vessel will accommodate two crew members, three on-board educators and up to 30 passengers.

 

 

“We are big believers in education and investing in the next generation,” said Derecktor’s New Construction Manager Erik Derecktor, with State Senator Shelley MAYER “The R/V Brewer will put that into action. She will introduce students from our backyard and across the region to the Sound’s critical ecosystem and the many opportunities available in the marine industry.”

The program was designed specifically to advance SoundWaters’ educational mission of creating a better world through joyful learning on Long Island Sound while inspiring children and adults to become lifelong stewards of the environment. The R/V Brewer will include a wet/dry laboratory and specialized equipment for hands-on marine research, giving students the opportunity to conduct sophisticated field investigations and learn about Long Island Sound directly on the water.

“This new vessel will give students the opportunity to experience Long Island Sound as a working laboratory, conducting hands-on research and learning directly from the environment around them,” said President of SoundWaters Leigh Shemitz, (center) with Steve Otis and Mamaroneck Town Supervisor Jaine Elkind Eney.

“Watching this vessel come together at Derecktor is so exciting. Working with teachers and school districts throughout the region, we are going to change education on Long Island Sound for the next 50 years.  We believe our communities are stronger when we are all connected to and learning from Long Island Sound.”

SoundWaters currently reaches more than 30,000 students annually through its environmental education, youth development and community programs, serving more than 146 schools throughout the Long Island Sound region. The R/V Brewer will provide a new platform for SoundWaters to expand these hands-on learning experiences and connect 10,000 more students with the Sound every year.

The new vessel is named in honor of Jack Brewer, founder of Brewer Yacht Yard Group and a long-time member of the Northeast boating community.

Brewer’s connection to Mamaroneck and the marine industry began with his family’s hardware business. While attending Columbia Business School, he learned that the nearby Post Road Boat Yard was for sale and decided to acquire it.

That acquisition became the foundation for Brewer Yacht Yard Group, which grew into a network of marinas from Maryland to Maine. Brewer built the company around service, responsible business practices and a commitment to the waterfront. Naming SoundWaters’ new vessel in his honor recognizes his long-standing connection to the region’s marine community.

“I built my life on Long Island Sound, and I’ve seen firsthand how the water can change a life,” said Jack Brewer. “Every kid deserves the chance to explore, learn, and discover on the water. Give a child that experience, and they’ll carry it with them for the rest of their life.”
