City of White Plains Partners with Sustainable Westchester on
Energy Education & Awareness
White Plains, NY – September 28, 2026. The City of White Plains is pleased to announce a partnership with Sustainable Westchester to provide residents and local businesses with educational opportunities focused on energy savings, clean energy options and ways to prepare for and protest against rising energy costs.
“We are pleased to work directly with Sustainable Westchester and support their efforts to bring energy education and workshops to our residents,” said White Plains Mayor Justin Brasch. “Through awareness we can create change one step at a time and make White Plains a greener, more sustainable place to live.”
Partnering with Sustainable Westchester will help connect residents and local businesses with information about new technologies, available incentives, and practical ways to make energy choices that are both environmentally responsible and cost-effective.
Throughout the coming months, Sustainable Westchester and White Plains will offer a series of education opportunities open to the public, including:
October Event:
The Home Energy Savings Workshop
On October 22nd at 6:30 p.m., Sustainable Westchester’s EnergySmart Homes team will be at the White Plains Public Library to discuss ways to reduce energy bills, weatherize homes, and electrify appliances. The workshop will also include information about navigating rebate programs offered by New York State, ConEd, and Sustainable Westchester. All attendees will receive a free D.I.Y. energy savings kit to use in their home, apartment or business.

Preparing for Winter Temperatures
Sustainable Westchester and the White Plains Department of Public Works will demonstrate simple ways to prepare homes and apartments for colder temperatures. The program will include tips on weatherproofing, preventing and handling frozen pipes, and safely heating your home or apartment.
Home Energy Audits
Sustainable Westchester can help residents arrange home energy audits with qualified professionals who can assess how efficiently a home or apartment is operating and identify potential upgrades that could help save both energy and money.
The partnership will also include neighborhood Home Energy Audits, giving local residents an opportunity to open their homes to neighbors to see what an energy audit looks like and learn what questions to ask when evaluating their own homes.
Energy Savings Simplified
With the cost of heating and electrifying homes continuing to be a concern for many households, understanding available incentives and energy-saving opportunities can be challenging. Sustainable Westchester will help residents learn about available rebate programs, discounts, and other cost-saving opportunities, including who is eligible and how to apply. Programming will also explore how newer energy technologies can provide both environmental and financial benefits.
