Westchester Children’s Museum

The White Plains Public Library is pleased to announce the addition of the Westchester Children’s Museum to the Museum Pass Program. The Library pass provides free admission for four people (at least one adult).

The Museum is a vibrant, playful learning hub with opportunities for kids and their grown-ups to create, build, discover and explore.
It is open every day from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and located in the historic Bathhouse on the famed Playland boardwalk in Rye, N.Y.

Note: The Museum Pass Program is for White Plains Public Library cardholders only – and the Library will be closed on Monday, October 14, for Columbus Day.

Join White Plains Librarian Barbara Wenglin for our Fall Zoom Story Series using the rich anthology, Stories of Books and Libraries (ed. Jane Holloway, Everyman’s Pocket Classics, 2023).For this session, please read “A General in the Library” by Italo Calvino (p.77) and “The Library” by Ray Bradbury (p.483), offering two visions of book banning and book burning with a surprise twist.

Copies of the series anthology are available to reserve through the catalog with one held at the Reference Desk for reading in the Library.  Register for the full zoom series and attend when you can. The program is supported by The Friends of the White Plains Library. In this exhibition, Erwin brings to life a variety of creatures—especially his beloved giraffes, with their unique silhouette and beautiful spots—through his signature line art style and bold color palette.

The story of one of the most notorious acts of treason in American history, when Benedict Arnold conspired with British Major John André during the Revolutionary War.
This presentation delves into the story of Benedict Arnold, often deemed the biggest traitor in American history, during the Revolutionary War. It will cover British Major John André’s covert negotiations with Arnold, his eventual capture by American militiamen, and ultimately, his tragic end. The production uses AI-generated imagery and 360-degree content in the Library’s new panoramic Igloo content room (near Trove entrance on 2nd floor), funded by the Library Foundation and Optimum.
