WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. July 12, 2006: A reader gives his take on the Mayor's nomination of Alexis Greer to replace her deceased father on the Common Council:
John,
A consideration when discussing appointing a family member to finish out the term of an elected but deceased family member: if a general dies while in office and in command, does the army appoint his/her daughter to assume the command? I do not think so.
Alexis should have the good conscience to bow out and refuse the job she is woefully unqualified for. Out of respect for the people of White Plains, she should not accept this most important position merely because she is someone's daughter. Dynastical control belongs in North Korea, not White Plains.
